Up to now we recommended using BibTeX4Word to cite your papers in Microsoft Word. However, the installation of BibTeX4Word is complex and usage is not that user friendly (the Word add-ons from Zotero and Mendeley are much more comfortable).

Originally, we planned  to develop our own Docear4Word but we just don’t have the time because we want to focus on Docear itself. Therefore we wrote a detailed specification of what we want to have developed. If you think you could help us (for money or even free) or if you have ideas of what is missing in the specification, please let us know.

I am using abbrv/Ah5U style in Bibtex4Word, but can not find any equivalent style in Docear4Word. Would someone please inform me of any relevant style?

I use refworks, and google scholar allows me to export my citations directly to refworks. Any possibility of integrating this functionality for the mind map would ease up workflow. I just discovered Docear and am so enamored by the features, especially as demonstrated through the teaser video, that I now feel confident I can write my dissertation using Docear. As a Rhetoric and Writing Studies scholar, I have searched far and wide for a fully-integrated AND visual software that from within I can organize AND access PDFs, outline and map concepts, and zoom into the actual documents, store annotations, and generate citations. Thank you so much for this product. I am so excited, and I have not even begun to play with it yet.

Just voicing my support for the previous comments. I’m using a different reference manager simply because of the lack of a libreoffice plugin.
Although Docear runs on multiple systems, the lack of a plugin for an open office suite makes it, in practice, run only on Windows.

JabRef (which is integrated into Docear) has an OpenOffice Add-On. I have not tried it but would love to hear your experience. If you like, have a look at http://jabref.sourceforge.net/ and try if you can make the open/libreoffice add-on work for docear, too.

I am a new user of Docear and I feel enthusiastic about it. But sitting here in Old Germany I want to figure out, that quite a lot of people and enterprises are using OpenOffice and now his brother, libre office. Number increasing. So I follow the suggestion of Mr. Djebbari.

I am a user, not a developer, but I have a suggestion:

Docear is free, so why should you develop a plugin for word. I think it is suitable to make all things free, why not a plugin for LibreOffice, for example (not OpenOffice because it moved to the another world).

…and thank you very much for all.

Most of our users use Word and not OpenOffice. However, as soon as we have developed the MS Word Add-on, OpenOffice will be next.
