Docear4Word LogoThe new Docear4Word v1.23 is out as Beta version. Changes are

  1. A more detailed error message when there is a parsing error in your BibTeX file.
  2. The latest v1.0.517 version of CiteProc-JS has been included. This should finally solve all the sorting and numbering issues.
  3. We made some adjustment that could improve the performance of Docear4Word. Not sure though, if it will really do.
  4. Special characters such as . ! ? _ ^< > are now allowed in the beginning of a BibTeX name.

Please note that this is probably the last version that is compiled with VS2010 (requiring you to install .NET 2.0). The next release will be compiled with VS2013 (.NET 4) which should solve some compatibility issues with Windows 8.

We have not yet thoroughly tested the new version. So, if you want to be sure to get a stable version wait a few days (if you don’t see any updates here in the next days, users didn’t report any bugs and the current version is stable).

After I save a Word document (.docx) that has Docear4Word references as a PDF, the next time I open the Word document every bibtex field code is written out long. Luckily, I can do a Select All and then right click and select Toggle Field Codes from the popup menu to get them to all return to normal. (Then all that remains is fixing the page numbers, which are expanded from the toggle command.)

In on of my Word documents, every field with a field code is displaying such a message whenever I save to PDF. I’ve run bibclean on the BibTeX database and it’s returned no errors or warnings. These messages are not displayed when the same file is opened in an installation that does not have Docear4Word installed.

I have problems with adding reference to my document. Every time I try to add a reference I get a
message like this “{ADDING Docear CSL_CITATION
THIS CITATION DATA SHOULD NOT BE MANUALLY MODIFIED!!!
{
“schema”: “https://raw.github.com/citation-style-language/schema/master/csl-citation.json”,
“citationID”: “{b3316a3e-0483-4039-a148-7e49df9b0c20}”,
“properties”: {
“noteIndex”: 0 },

}

    that’s a Word issue. to fix it, make a right click on the inserted reference, and choose “Toggle Field Codes”
