I am honoured to announce that I have been invited to join the ACM Recommender Systems (RecSys) Steering Committee. This invitation is a significant milestone in my career and represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of the field of recommender systems.
The ACM RecSys Steering Committee oversees the ACM Recommender Systems Conference Series, the leading conference for research in recommender systems. The committee is responsible for shaping the direction of the conference, maintaining its scientific quality, and ensuring that it continues to serve as a central hub for researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders in the field. As part of this committee, I will work alongside leading experts to guide the future of the conference and its associated activities.
The current members of the Steering Committee are some of the top researchers and thought leaders in recommender systems. With a few of them, I collaborated in recent years and months, including Alan Said, Li Chen, Michael Ekstrand, Barry Smyth, Min Zhang, and Dietmar Jannach. All committee members have significantly contributed to the recommendation technology’s academic and practical aspects. Their expertise spans a range of topics, from machine learning and data mining to human-computer interaction and information retrieval. I am privileged to collaborate with such a distinguished group of scholars. Each member brings a unique perspective and a wealth of experience to the committee, ensuring that the conference remains at the forefront of advancements in recommender systems research.
This invitation represents both an acknowledgement of my past work and a commitment to continue advancing the field of recommender systems. My involvement with the ACM RecSys Steering Committee will provide me with valuable insights into the field’s challenges and opportunities. I look forward to contributing my perspectives to these discussions. This is an exciting opportunity to further engage with the global community of researchers, practitioners, and educators shaping the future of recommendation technologies.
As I take on this new role, I remain dedicated to advancing my research’s core themes, including automating algorithm selection (AutoRecSys), improving the algorithm’s efficiency (Green Recommender Systems), and recommender systems evaluation. Being part of the ACM RecSys Steering Committee will provide me the platform to collaborate on these initiatives at an even grander scale.
I look forward to the work ahead and the continued progress of the recommender systems community.
