I am delighted to announce that I am visiting Alan Said and his research group at the University of Gothenburg for a knowledge exchange about sustainable recommender systems and machine learning. Sweden’s innovation agency VINNOVA has approved funding for three research visits over the next twelve months. During this time Alan Said, Vasili Mankevich, Olgerta Tona, and I will analyse the ecological footprint of recommender systems and discuss solutions to reduce the CO2 emissions that machine learning and recommender systems cause.
