The Germany Academic Exchange Service (DAAD – Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) invited its alumni to Berlin to discuss recent advances in generative artificial intelligence. Dr. Holger Finken, Cordula Behrsing and Jana Zettler organized the event. Prof. Dr. Ute Schmid held the opening keynote on trustworthy AI. Prof. Joeran Beel also attended the meeting as he is both an alumnus of the DAAD (Tokyo and Cyprus) and serving on the scientific advisory board of the DAAD IFI program. The meeting featured many exciting presentations, including Dr. Norman Meuschke on the potential and risks of generative AI; Prof. Wolfgang Wahlster, one of the leading figures in artificial intelligence, on the ICSI in Berkeley; a panel discussion; a visit to the Berlin Open Lab; and an excellent dinner.
